Off to Cali for Soccer Tournament Fun Followed by Spring Break!

Weekdays:

  • Monday - I worked from home each day this week to be able to get laundry and other to dos complete in between calls since we already leave for CA on Thursday morning!  Maci had practice at night from 650-800p and thankfully Clint did the running.
  • Tuesday - Flor cleaned the house, nice to have the house feeling fresh before heading out of town.  I had a super busy afternoon followed by my hair coloring apt at 5p.  Maci had INFINITI training at 630p which I picked her up from on my way home from the apt.  We then ran through Culvers on the way home for some ice cream.
  • Wednesday - Last day of work before break!  I got everything in a good spot and was ready to peace out come my nail apt at 5p.  I ran into some of Maci's teammates.  I got everyone packed but me before Maci's final practice at 750-900p.  We hustled home and I packed myself until about 1030p.  We all crashed and were excited to get out of town in the morning.
Connor had his wax museum - He was Dr. Seuss :)
  • Thursday - We cut things a little closer than we intended to as the bag drop took forever.  However, we all got our Starbucks, food etc and were on the flight by 11a.  It was a pretty smooth flight which allowed for me to watch some shows, the kids did great (per usual) and before we knew it we were touching down in San Diego.  We spent the day getting settled at the hotel, doing some swimming and game playing and then a team dinner at PFChangs.  Super random but the only place that could accommodate our group size real time.
And we are Off!

A little chilly water means games by the pool
Friday:
  • Game 1 at 930a vs Clovis Crossfire out of Fresno CA.  They weren't that strong of a team but we seemed to struggle adjusting back down to a smaller field size and a Size 4 vs Size 5 ball.  We were neck and neck until they pulled away for a 1-4 victory against us.
  • We headed back to the hotel for some R&R.
  • We all then hung by the pool later in the day followed by a team dinner at the Windmill food hall next door.
  • That night was adult hang time and we all spent some time with beers and laughter by the pool as the kids chilled out.
And we are off to game 1
Saturday:
  • Game 2 was at 1130a vs Washington East Surf (Spokane, WA).  Since it was a later game, we first took some team pics by this cool flower field near our hotel.  Then we were off to the game.
  • This game was extra special as Clint's parent's friends Candy and Greg who live in San Diego came to watch the game.  In addition, one of my besties from high school, Rachelle, and her family came down for the weekend and came to this game.
  • We pulled out a 2-0 W for our watching fans.  Maci hustled and almost had a GORGEOUS goal when she ripped it with her left foot but the goalies fingers just barely got on it to knock it out for the corner kick.
  • We ate some snacks and then watched our 2012 team while Rachelle and her family headed back for naps at their hotel.
  • Once back at the hotel, Rachelle and family came over to swim with my kids and we ordered in some food to eat poolside.  We laughed and caught up until about 10p and then called it as her kids were crashing and Maci had an early game in the AM.  So great to see you Minter crew!!

Sunday:
  • Final game at 815a vs RISE (Houston, TX).  We came out strong!  This was a touch physical team but we were hanging.  Lauren had a gorgeous rip that Maci attempted to put in but bounced off the keeper and Savanah put it to the back of the net - up 1-0.  We kept that going through most of the 1st half but then tied it up 1-1.  Unfortunately the 2nd half showed our exhaustion from a weekend of hustling and they outpowered us to a 1-3 loss.  The girls were super down on this one b/c they knew looking back they could have won all 3 BUT we reminded them that this tournament showed they can hang!
  • I got some pics of the girls in their new t-shirts and then we were all off in our own directions.  Many heading on to Mexico or Hawaii etc for the rest of their spring break while others were staying local to CA - like us.
  • We packed up from the hotel and then were off to San Clemente to meet my friend Neil and his family for lunch.  It was good food and so nice to see Neil and his ladies.  We enjoyed some good Mexican food before parting ways.  We were off to our Airbnb and they headed back home to LA.
  • We got into our Airbnb at 3p and got settled/unpacked.  We then went out in the sunshine for a walk down by the beach and then down the strip of La Jolla.
  • We got back, freshened up and then were off to dinner at the Spot in downtown LaJolla.
  • A great first day of "Spring Break" part of our trip!
Some of us may have struggled with the wind and sun 👀

Bugger of an End but Future is Bright for these Kickers!

Lots of Love,
