Mommy & Me BBQ Fun

Saturday Clint, Maci and I went over our friends Kelly, Pete and Baby Hank's house to hang with several of our Mommy/Me class friends for another fun summer BBQ.  It was great to get a group of the babies together again since the last time we had a group of them together, they were just starting to sit (July).  Now many are sitting pros, some are thinking about moving and well Maci is crawling and CLIMBING.  We all had a good laugh about the first time they met me and I cried in class about my tiny 6 week old who was under weight and had to wear a leg brace - this is now the same baby that is a chubby wubby and is the first to crawl, climb and most likely WALK - YES this is pay back for all my worrying about her legs!  There were many bets placed that Maci will be a Gymnast one day due to her amazing splits at such a young age.  Clint had to tell them that her mommy was doing the splits at many bars up until a few years ago - ahh got to love Clint!

We are already planning the next get together this time at our house.  We are hosting everyone for a Football Sunday since we have the NFL ticket, love football and chili.  Everyone is going to bring a Chili Recipe and we will sample yummy food all day and enjoy football while the kids play in Maci's newly formed play room (former basement bedroom which was an office/spare parts room).

We love getting together with this group of friends, comparing notes and watching the babes grow.  Hopefully some of Maci's life long friends!

We hope everyone had a great weekend!  We spent today planning out our packing list for the big 11 day trip to OHIO!!  We are excited but also some what anxious about fitting everything in the CRV and saving some sanity on a 12 hour drive with a 7 month old!  However, we look forward to seeing all you Ohio friends/family in less than 1 week =)

New Hair Styles

Maci has grown "some" hair - it is really more like light fluffy baby bird feathers on top her head and WOW is it a pale blonde.  I knew that had to be somewhere in her genes since both Clint and I were blondies as kids.  This has allowed mommy and daycare to attempt hair styles beyond the go to headbands.

Football Day at Daycare!

Friday was supposed to be "wear your Vikings gear" day at daycare in honor of the 1st preseason game.  However, the Mondell's do not, and most likely will not, own any Vikings gear, seeing as we already cant agree on one team in this house ;-)  However, I confirmed that she could wear anything football related as long as it wasnt Packer's gear, no worries!  So Miss Maci was quite the talk of the center on Friday when she showed up in the following!!  I think daycare is finally realizing that this momma may take her "theme" days a little far!  We hope you all had a nice weekend!!!

Fall Like Summer

Like Ohio friends and family, the end of July and start of August has felt more like a nice spring or early fall than summer.  The days have been beautiful but a little too cold for the pool and summer fun.  Last night, Maci, Clint, Boomer and I all went for a walk after dinner.  Since it was getting a little cooler, I put one of my favorite sweaters we received as a gift when Maci was a baby.  We are happy to say our one time peanut can finally fit this adorable sweater, thanks to the Rogers' family!  It seems Maci likes it a lot too!

Sports Week @ Daycare!

Maci Lou just cracks us up!  We love how each day she shows us more and more glimpses of her awesome blossoming personality.  This week's theme at daycare has been sports and these are some FUN pictures!

Maci is so concerned that either :

1) Reese stole her pin

2) Reese is eating the pin vs. paying attention to the teacher

3) Someone knocked over her pins after she finished stacking them up

No Matter which is right, we can tell Maci has her mommy's worrying ways!  =)

This picture cracks me up because they actually put sports sweat bands on the kids!

 The teacher told us they were supposed to be counting the pins, Maci seems really intense about her work while Jack seems more interested in eating the assignment!

Geez, Maci really didn't get to pick her group b/c she is the only one who appears to be trying!

6 Month Photo Preview

Future Yoga Instructor?!

Clint and I keep commenting on how amazing it is the changes we see in Maci just from week to week.  For example, 2 weeks ago she could barely sit up, then last week she would sit but wobble a bit and then this week she sits like she has been doing it her whole life.

This week, Maci had a lot of other firsts.  She has started taking a lunch at daycare in addition to her bottles.  The pictures they send me just crack me up.  Maci LOVES orange veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes etc) but Green veggies are rough (peas are definitely on the yucky face list).  Let's see if you can guess which one is peas and which one is carrots ;-)

Maci is also finally growing some fluffy white/blonde hair.  About time considering I have had barrettes ready to go for months now HA Daycare also seems to have noticed the hair growth and read my mind, check out this fun pic they sent!  Maci does not seem too amused about her first ponytail!

On Friday, Maci decided to teach her daycare teachers some yoga poses.  The workers get such a kick out of Maci and her big personality for such a little lady!  It really does look like she is trying to get a little work out in.  They just laugh at how the other kids will sit and play but Maci sits in a corner and just works on different sitting, crawling and standing poses over and over again.  The dedication makes us think she is sure to be some form of athlete one day :)

Finally it was the weekend and time for some fun!  We had the Brubacher's over for a grill out and fire last night.  Miss Maci was a bit of a devil during the day since her 1st tooth has cut through her gum on the bottom.  However, after a brisk walk with Mommy, she turned around her attitude and was an adorable little host.  She loved being tossed by Trip and held by Lori.  Thanks for coming over guys!
