Mondell Grandparents Visit and Summer Comes to an End

What a pretty rainbow we saw late Sunday after mom had left and we were preparing for the arrival of the Mondell's.  I love rainbows - they just make me stop and smile!

Monday - We had normal days back to work and school.  That night Maci was struggling going to bed and so I laid upstairs with her watching the Emmys.  Ultimately, Maci and I fell asleep and the Mondell's arrived around 830p.  Clint and his parents sat outside around the fire and were able to catch up while Maci and I caught up on some much needed sleep.

Tuesday - The Mondell's caught up on their sleep since this is their vacation and we headed into work and school for the day.  Maci had a group art project, you can see her as the 2nd to the left with a little boy trying to steal her crayon ;-) Once we were home, we grilled out with the Mondell's and had a nice night out back.
Wednesday - Maci stayed home with the Mondell's and had grandparent/granddaughter day.  Clint and I headed into work and Clint assisted me in my fantasy football draft over lunch.  Afterwards, he was off to a golf outing (tough day) while I managed to make it through the rest of my day with a horrible headache :(  After Clint got home that night, we grilled out again and had a repeat of the night before - very nice evenings and weather!

Thursday - The Mondell's were off a little after us in the morning on their way to WY.  Clint will see them out in WY since he happens to have a business trip in the same area Thurs of this coming week through Tues of the following.  I had my tax groups summer outing at a park and was able to work from home the remainder of the day.

Friday - WAHOOO LONG WEEKEND!  I had a few meetings in the morning and then was able to get things done the rest of the day.  We kicked off the fun weekend by ordering pizza and watching some college football.

Saturday - Maci started back to Little Gym, thank goodness!  We took the summer off and we have decided that Maci is a kid who likes her routine and structured activity.  Daycare even noticed that not having gym and swim has weighed on Maci's overall behavior.  She was so excited to get back into the center and I was so excited that she now starts at 9a vs 8a since she is older!!  While we were there Clint was helping our neighbor lay an entirely new concrete walkway and the results are amazing!  We spent the rest of our day running errands, watching football and just enjoying a lazy long weekend.

Sunday - Clint and I have a weekend rule that he gets up with Maci whenever that may be on Saturdays and I get left alone to sleep until 8a.  That then reverses on Sunday.  So today Maci and I were up with Sesame Street at 6a.  While I wish I was sleeping, I wouldn't rather spend my early morning with anyone else :)  I even got her to fall back asleep for a bit on the couch with me - it is the soft blanket on the back of the couch that gets her ever time :)
Later in the morning, Clint and some neighbor guys all helped to move a swing set from our new neighbors' (Jake & Margaret) yard.  These are the neighbors directly behind us and they currently have no little ones and don't feel a need for a swing set - they would rather have a pergola and fire pit entertainment area.  So for FREE we were able to take the swing set off their hands.  Since we have a fairly spacious yard, we were able to put it behind the garage in the backyard and still maintain all of our entertaining space.  Miss M LOVES the swings and slide.  This is going to be an awesome item over the years - wahoo!!

We are wrapping up our Sunday by putting Miss M to bed and heading to our neighbors Jared & Megan's to have tacos and drinks by the fire, Jake and Margaret are also joining.  We are so grateful to have so many fun and welcoming neighbors.  Plus, we don't need a sitter since the monitor reaches to all the houses surrounding our home, Megan/Jared are kitty corner to us in the back.  They have a little one (14 months - Nora) so we all know to start the fun at 8p once the kids are down.  We are sure Miss Nora is going to spend many a days playing with Miss M in the backyard on the swing set over the years and potentially sleep overs in Miss M's playroom :)  Feeling blessed!

Tomorrow we will wrap up the weekend with a few more errands and I may take advantage of the day to get caught up on some work.  I hope to continue this lazy, take things as they come mood to everything as it has been such a nice weekend!  I am also excited for next week as it is back to school for all the kids here and it feels like a new beginning for us too in order to just get back in our routine.  Miss M starts swim lessons again this Friday night and then gym will run through the entire school year on Saturday mornings.  I love routine and I am glad to see Miss M may be like me on this front.

Life's Better when Grandma Janet is in Town!

What a fun week and weekend!  Grandma Janet arrived Tuesday evening and we were very excited to see her at the airport and prepare for our week/weekend of exciting events!

Tuesday - After picking her up from the airport, we ordered Toppers Pizza for dinner and ate on the back patio while Maci played in her water table and Clint mowed the lawn.  A fun night on the patio just catching up.

Wednesday - Mom and Maci had a Grandma/Grand Daughter day at our home together.  Maci stayed home from daycare while Clint and I worked.  Maci refused to nap for Grandma because she is just too fun!  However, they did make it to a local park together and took a walk before we got home from a day at the office.  We then had Tacos together for dinner and enjoyed watching HGTV, a grandma Janet favorite!

Thursday - I was now off the rest of the week from work!  However, I went in for one 7a meeting with the executive admins.  Clint started his day by taking mom and Maci into work at 8a when my meeting was ending.  Mom and Maci then hung out in my office until I got back from my meeting.  :)

3 Generations in my Cargill Office
After walking around the office a little bit, we headed home to change and get ready for our real Thursday plans - the ZOO!  The Gilroy grandparents gave us our Zoo passes for Christmas so it seemed only fitting to take Grandma Janet to see the Zoo!

Maci was not in the mood to sit for a picture!

That night after Clint got home from work, we picked up some Famous Dave's carry out and then mom and I headed to the new outlet malls for some shopping while Clint took care of crazy Maci for us.  Always nice to get out and do some shopping with mom!

Friday - Clint was now also off work and able to join us for Minnesota State Fair Day!!!  The Minnesota State Fair is the 3rd largest state fair and a must see if you are in town for the ~ 2 week run of the fair.  We purposely had my mom plan her visit around the fair so she could enjoy the fun and that we did!  We all enjoyed way too much amazing fair food and Maci loved the rides/animals!

Saturday - We enjoyed a random day on Saturday after several days of jam packed plans.  We started the day by going to breakfast at Egg & I - yummy!  After breakfast, Maci went home for a nap while my mom and I did a little more shopping/grocery shopping for the week - yes, this is what she wanted to do with me.  After we got all the shopping done, we had Ham's Sandwich shop for a late lunch/early dinner.  We debated doing a fire but ended up deciding to make popcorn and to watch a movie after Miss M went to bed.  We watched a funny movie and it was a nice way to end the trip, very relaxing.

Sunday - Mom had to leave to the airport fairly early with a 10a flight time =(  After we pulled away from dropping her off around 8a, I did my usual 5 mins of tears in the car.  After I calmed down, we grabbed some bagels and went for a long family walk around the local nature preserve, such a nice Sunday morning.

Maci took a nap on the way home and now we are starting to do some housework in preparation for the Mondell's to arrive Monday evening.  They are visiting on their way out west and they will be staying with us until Thurs morning.  Tomorrow we all head back to work and daycare to somewhat get back to our routines.

Prepping for Grandma Janet!

Since I posted our vacation blog late and only a few days ago, we don't have much of an update or pictures for that matter this time around.  We enjoyed the rest of our short work/daycare week and on Friday we had a family dinner of Chipotle on the back patio which is quickly becoming our outdoor dining room :)  On Saturday we mainly ran errands and started to clean the house for Grandma Janet's arrival this coming Tuesday!!!!  We are so excited to have her visit and this will be the first time it is SUMMER when she comes!  No one truly understands the excitement and beauty of Minneapolis until you enjoy the warm weather in this awesome city!  This morning Maci and I went to the zoo with my friend from work Erin and her lil boy Henry.  Maci had a blast in the goat petting area and did ok in the stroller before we headed home around lunch/nap time.  Clint was great and kept cleaning while we were gone and we can now say we are officially ready for Grandma Janet's arrival!!!

Our plans with Grandma Janet are extensive and she is hopefully as excited!!
* Tuesday - Arrive around dinner, hang out / relax
* Wednesday - Grandma/Maci day: while we work they are going to take walks, play out back etc
* Thursday - Zoo Day with Grandma, Kellie & Maci
* Friday - MN State Fair Day with Grandma, Kellie, Clint & Maci - A MUST DO!!!!
* Saturday - Mom & Kellie Outlet Shopping and Maybe Lake Minnetonka Beach in the Afternoon
* Sunday - Grandma Leaves :( but she probably gets to rest!

No sooner does Grandma Janet leave then Nanny & Grandpa Mondell arrive for a quick stop in on their way out west (Mon evening to Wed morning)  We are going to have a blast the next few weeks and I am sure there will be lots of picture updates next Sunday!

Portsmouth, NH Vacation - Volume 3

Monday - Boston Day!  Today we woke up without too much planned.  We were served pancakes made from scratch oh and she even made peach ones with fresh peaches, amazed doesn't do her cooking justice!  While eating breakfast we decided to plan our day which we finally landed on the idea of doing the Boston Children's museum - something their girls hadn't done yet and this worked great for us to spend the most time possible together since our flight was out of Boston around 630p.  We got to Boston around lunch time, had some lunch at a local cafe and then headed in for lots of museum fun and WOW was I camera happy today but these museums are just too cute!

Then it was 430p and time for hugs good bye :(  We had to hold back the tears from starting, we have such a good time with the Greens.  We can't wait to see them again, maybe in Minneapolis so we can show them our hood next time around.  We got to the airport with a good amount of time - not too long or too short but Maci was HORRIBLE on the flight home.  She was wide awake and flipping out for about 2 hours and slept for the last 20 mins.  While we had a blast, we are also glad we have no flights coming up with her!  We were home around 10p on Monday night and now we are back in the routine of work and daycare.  This coming weekend will be Mondell clean house mission since we are getting ready for Grandma Gilroy to get here next Tuesday!!!!!  Wahoo!!!

Green Family - We Love You and Thank You for such a Great time!
