What a pretty rainbow we saw late Sunday after mom had left and we were preparing for the arrival of the Mondell's. I love rainbows - they just make me stop and smile!
Monday - We had normal days back to work and school. That night Maci was struggling going to bed and so I laid upstairs with her watching the Emmys. Ultimately, Maci and I fell asleep and the Mondell's arrived around 830p. Clint and his parents sat outside around the fire and were able to catch up while Maci and I caught up on some much needed sleep.
Tuesday - The Mondell's caught up on their sleep since this is their vacation and we headed into work and school for the day. Maci had a group art project, you can see her as the 2nd to the left with a little boy trying to steal her crayon ;-) Once we were home, we grilled out with the Mondell's and had a nice night out back.
Wednesday - Maci stayed home with the Mondell's and had grandparent/granddaughter day. Clint and I headed into work and Clint assisted me in my fantasy football draft over lunch. Afterwards, he was off to a golf outing (tough day) while I managed to make it through the rest of my day with a horrible headache :( After Clint got home that night, we grilled out again and had a repeat of the night before - very nice evenings and weather!
Thursday - The Mondell's were off a little after us in the morning on their way to WY. Clint will see them out in WY since he happens to have a business trip in the same area Thurs of this coming week through Tues of the following. I had my tax groups summer outing at a park and was able to work from home the remainder of the day.
Friday - WAHOOO LONG WEEKEND! I had a few meetings in the morning and then was able to get things done the rest of the day. We kicked off the fun weekend by ordering pizza and watching some college football.
Saturday - Maci started back to Little Gym, thank goodness! We took the summer off and we have decided that Maci is a kid who likes her routine and structured activity. Daycare even noticed that not having gym and swim has weighed on Maci's overall behavior. She was so excited to get back into the center and I was so excited that she now starts at 9a vs 8a since she is older!! While we were there Clint was helping our neighbor lay an entirely new concrete walkway and the results are amazing! We spent the rest of our day running errands, watching football and just enjoying a lazy long weekend.
Sunday - Clint and I have a weekend rule that he gets up with Maci whenever that may be on Saturdays and I get left alone to sleep until 8a. That then reverses on Sunday. So today Maci and I were up with Sesame Street at 6a. While I wish I was sleeping, I wouldn't rather spend my early morning with anyone else :) I even got her to fall back asleep for a bit on the couch with me - it is the soft blanket on the back of the couch that gets her ever time :)
Later in the morning, Clint and some neighbor guys all helped to move a swing set from our new neighbors' (Jake & Margaret) yard. These are the neighbors directly behind us and they currently have no little ones and don't feel a need for a swing set - they would rather have a pergola and fire pit entertainment area. So for FREE we were able to take the swing set off their hands. Since we have a fairly spacious yard, we were able to put it behind the garage in the backyard and still maintain all of our entertaining space. Miss M LOVES the swings and slide. This is going to be an awesome item over the years - wahoo!!
We are wrapping up our Sunday by putting Miss M to bed and heading to our neighbors Jared & Megan's to have tacos and drinks by the fire, Jake and Margaret are also joining. We are so grateful to have so many fun and welcoming neighbors. Plus, we don't need a sitter since the monitor reaches to all the houses surrounding our home, Megan/Jared are kitty corner to us in the back. They have a little one (14 months - Nora) so we all know to start the fun at 8p once the kids are down. We are sure Miss Nora is going to spend many a days playing with Miss M in the backyard on the swing set over the years and potentially sleep overs in Miss M's playroom :) Feeling blessed!
Tomorrow we will wrap up the weekend with a few more errands and I may take advantage of the day to get caught up on some work. I hope to continue this lazy, take things as they come mood to everything as it has been such a nice weekend! I am also excited for next week as it is back to school for all the kids here and it feels like a new beginning for us too in order to just get back in our routine. Miss M starts swim lessons again this Friday night and then gym will run through the entire school year on Saturday mornings. I love routine and I am glad to see Miss M may be like me on this front.
Lots of Love,
C, K & M
