What is that?? Mud?! And More Gorgeous Weekend Weather!

The week started out nice and normal.  Clint was in Missouri for the day while Maci enjoyed playing leap frog at school in honor of leap day :)  Connor and I enjoyed one of our last days of quiet cuddles together until it was time to get Maci from school.  That night we picked up Clint from the airport and the kiddos were pumped to see him!

So on Tuesday Connor and I were having another quiet/productive mornings (this was 2nd to last week of my maternity leave).  Around noon I had a sleeping baby, some quiet time before another pump/feeding session so I decided to put in some laundry.  That trip to the basement proved to throw the rest of our week upside down!  I get to the laundry area and see some weird mud water on the ground but it is coming from an interior wall, not exterior.  I traced it to the finished side of the basement and saw a horrific mess!!
WHAT THE F*$! - Were My Words
So what is that you ask.  Well after hunting down Xcel energy workers who had been digging outside our house, I learned it is a clay slurry they shoot through power lines underground once they replace the lines.  However, they inadvertently hit our sewer line so when they sprayed this junk it built up pressure and sprung through the sewer cap on the ground in our utility closet - spewing onto the carpet.  Fortunately Xcel is taking full responsibility they will be replacing all the dry wall in the closet, along the wet areas and replacing the carpet and padding in the basement.  However, this doesn't quite help with my enjoyment of 2 final "PEACEFUL" weeks of maternity leave.  Thankfully Clint has taken on the entire ordeal and is dealing with the quotes, insurance process, Xcel etc.  We have stayed calm through the process since there are worse things that could happen but what a mess?!

The day was brightened when we got to see our pal Lori for dinner who was in town house hunting.  That is right, Trip and Lori are moving back to the Cities after having left us for a few years to Milwaukee!!  We are so excited to have these guys back in town and it was fun to have someone over the house to laugh at all the mud madness . . . and drink a beer ;-)

The rest of the week was met with lots of contractors coming in and out but fortunately it trailed off as the week came to a close.  Maci in the meantime was enjoying their current lesson on dinosaurs at school and the usual art fun.
Funny Girl!

Connor continues to be adorable and I caught him sleeping like Frankenstein one nap this week.
Oh and Boomer never gets a spotlight anymore on the blog.  However, I have to share how cute he was when I caught him one afternoon missing his favorite lil human and night time sleeping pal.

Friday - Connor and I enjoyed our last casual Friday together (side note : I hate saying LAST anything.  Even though I am ready to get back to work and adult conversation it is still sad to think this time is over and he isn't a newborn any longer)  Oh and you may be thinking that I have one more Friday, which I do.  However, this coming Friday will be busy since Clint is going to take the day off and we are taking the kiddos to the Children's Museum to send out my maternity leave with a bang :)

Once Maci and Clint got home, we ordered up some pizza and Maci got busy playing her favorite game these days - She baths her toys in the sink :)  HAHA such a big girl with a great imagination!
Clint and I were lazy and continued watching my favorite Netflix binge which is Friends the TV show from start to finish - good background TV to have on throughout the day.

Saturday
Saturday Morning Cuties
The temperatures were getting nice again.  We had the usual gym and brunch out followed by some family errand running.  We then went to mass at 5p since we had Sunday morning plans with neighbor friends.  Maci is really getting into wearing dresses, pretty shoes and girly things.  She asked for us to take her picture after showing daddy her outfit :)
Thankfully both kids were good at mass and then we headed to Granite City for a yummy dinner out. Maci made it all the way to dessert being good but then she was fairly ready to leave.  Fortunately no outbursts and we hurried out to let her get home to chill out.

Sunday - Today was Gorgeous!!  We almost hit 60 degrees - please tell me spring is here to stay!  We started the day with an early trip to the Zoo.  Our neighbor friends' twin girls turn 3 this coming Tuesday.  Maci was excited to go to another birthday party and brought Evelyn & Lilly a Cinderella doll and Rapunzel doll.  The zoo brought in a lizard for all the girls to pet and learn about.  We then got to do a little backstage action by seeing the zoo kitchen and some zoo keepers.  Maci loved the icing of her cupcake and after the party part was over, we did a quick lap around the zoo before heading home around 1230p for lunch/naps.

After some quick naps and lunch, Clint and Maci headed outside for some baseball lessons.  I was feeding Connor inside but loved the view and laughter sounds from my front window view.  We didn't play out back today because daddy has to clean after Boomer and our backyard always is a little muddy at the start of spring.  Maci loved to hit the balls and pitch to daddy.  How cute is this?

Once Clint could convince her to put the bat away, we took a family walk before some Chipotle dinner.  Maci is now settling in with some princesses on the iPad, Connor is napping, Clint is on a conference call with Asia Pacific for work and I am continuing to tie up loose ends/to do list needs before I head back to work.

This coming week's plan is to do what I can with my list yet also to enjoy lots of afternoon naps with my buddy Connor before he joins sissy at school.  We also have a fun weekend ahead with the Children's Museum and a wedding/date night Saturday.

Enjoy your week ahead!
Lots of Love,
C, K, M & C
